Deep emotions and inspirations come from verywhere. They come up to me sometimes as a strong impression and sometimes as a dim feeling from nature, travels and everyday life. The deep emotions and inspirations are stored as simple esquisses or passages and photographs which helped me not lose the first impression that I got. I never try to unit and press out them by force but wait till they are filtered and grown well in me and erupt naturally. It takes too short or too long for me. I like the freedom in working, so I don't need the perfect and well made or planned esquisses. But I only need simple esquisse or short word that evoke inspiration and deep emotion. Freedom, inspiration, deep emotion and sometimes extempore expression enable me free and energetic and exciting. I don't want to stick to only one theme but want to work from many motifs and inspirations, deep emotions and new experiences from everywhere. By doing so, I want I can pour out my thought and life on my work. 'Freedom, Challenge, Confidence, Endeavor' I wrote these words on the wall of my studio and whenever I read the words, I am encouraged and stimulated from them. Nature itself is too great and overpowers us. But if there are small human traces in nature, theyt make us memory, hope, yearning and some stories. A narrow path through a forest, stepping stones on a little stream, footprints on snow, a hut in front of a big mountain which is covered with snow, tiny human traces that we can find at some remains of olden days, an airplane in the blue sky, a small ship, lighthouse and a bridge in the sea... I feel and learn yearning, hope and many things from this well matched relation between nature and human traces. Art is travel. Even if one feels a little bit of loneliness, the travel is good because there is an anticipation. Working in my studio, I always felt happiness and the sight through my nice long-shaped windows gave me many inspirations-from fresh air, snow, stars and everything. In here, I could express myself-my thought, experience-on my work and I really happy for that. -Feb.16 .1999. in Vermont Studio Center |
